Shain Shapiro: Music is this incredibly unifying force that is chameleonic. The more that we understand it, the more pathways to, you know, find ways to make places better through it.

I'm Adrian Ellis, the chair of GCDN, and the director of AEA Consulting, and I'm thrilled to have on the podcast this week, Shain Shapiro.
Shain, whom I've known for some years and have watched the progression of his career with admiration. Shain currently leads the non-profit Center for Music Ecosystems, but he's probably as well known for founding and developing the consultancy Sound Diplomacy, and in both contexts has been a champion of music as a significant contributor to a vibrant cultural ecology and a vibrant urban ecology. Shain, thank you for coming to the podcast.

Shain Shapiro: Thank you, Adrian. And the admiration is mutual, trust me on that.
